And home before….

I’ve been Into the Woods and now Out Of The Woods, but certainly not home before dark. This week has been a new type of fun for me. I have been playing the Piano (+ many other little parts on the Keys) for Twyford Church of England High School’s production of ‘Into The Woods’ by Stephen Sondheim. This has by a country mile been the hardest thing I’ve ever played and I can happily say I nailed it. This show is not exactly my cup of tea when it comes to musical theatre, but I cannot deny I’ve really enjoyed myself. We’ve been rehearsing multiple times a week since the beginning of the year, and it certainly paid off. The cast were incredible, the band was solid, and working with Jason (MD) and Louise (Director) has been so enjoyable. We’ve had a good laugh throughout once again. For my 10th show at this school, I’m so glad that we did something like this. I really want to take my hat off to school students playing Sondheim’s music with such accuracy. It was 71 numbers and pretty much non stop playing (except during the interval). Each act was over an hour long, and quite a strenuous task. A particular shout out to the young Strings players who played so well, especially the 1st violinist who had some really high solos to squeak out and they were so well tuned. The comments at the end were touching from the cast member who did the thank yous on behalf of the cast. 3 years working with the current production team, and 3 very different shows, all executed to a professional west end level. I look forward to seeing what they come up with next year. Well done everyone involved. Here’s to another 10 years of working with you all. X
